Opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate and media-savvy Public Relations Officer to join our team. This person will be the voice of our organization in public forums, online reviews, interviews, and media interactions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in communications or public relations, a deep love for animals, and a passion for sharing their stories with empathy and professionalism.

About Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary:
Dog Tales is a world-renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary set on an incredible 50 acres of green fields, rolling hills, and wooded areas in King City, Ontario. Our picturesque location - complete with walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa - is the perfect setting for abused and neglected animals to heal and be rehabilitated while they wait for forever homes. Along with medical care, our team provides all of the love, attention, and training that our rescue animals need to recover from their difficult pasts, so that they can move on to permanent, loving homes, which most do. For the rest, Dog Tales is home for as long as they need it to be.

The Role:
  • Respond to online reviews and inquiries in a timely, thoughtful, and brand-aligned manner
  • Conduct interviews with to share stories and promote our mission
  • Act as a liaison between Dog Tales and the public, media representatives, and other organizations
  • Draft and edit press releases, public statements, and official communications
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, and provide regular reports and insights to leadership
  • Assist with the planning and execution of events
  • Collaborate with the Media team to ensure consistent messaging and tone across all platforms

What You Bring:
  • 2+ years of experience in public relations, media, communications, or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident and comfortable speaking on behalf of an organization in both live and recorded formats
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to handle sensitive topics with compassion
  • Ability to respond professionally to public feedback, including criticism or complaints
  • Passion for animal welfare and alignment with the mission of Dog Tales
  • Experience working with media outlets, journalists
  • Knowledge of social media and online review platforms (Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc.)
  • Experience in interview preparation or conducting interviews

Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a schedule of 8 AM – 5 PM, five days a week, with occasional weekend shifts as needed. Flexibility with working hours is essential.
