Horse Handler

Opportunity
We’re looking for passionate and dedicated Horse Handlers to join our team full-time. In this role, provide daily care for our 40+ rescued horses along with a variety of other farm animals. Care includes feeding, grooming, turning in and out, and mucking of the barns. This physically demanding position requires you to be on your feet all day, in all weather conditions, while working closely with a team to provide the best care for our animals.

Dog Tales is a world-renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary set on an incredible 50 acres of green fields, rolling hills, and wooded areas in King City, Ontario. Our picturesque location - complete with kilometers of walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa - is the perfect setting for abused and neglected animals to heal and be rehabilitated while they wait for forever homes. Along with medical care, our team provides all of the love, attention and training that our rescue animals need to recover from their difficult pasts, so that they can move on to permanent, loving homes, which most do. For the rest, Dog Tales is home for as long as they need it to be.

The Role
As a Horse Handler, you will be an essential part of our team, responsible for ensuring the well-being and of our animals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Grooming and feeding horses and other animals (including pigs, cows, sheep and chickens)
- Mucking out stalls, cleaning paddocks
- Turning in and out
- Maintaining a positive and productive environment for the animals and the team.
- Working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to varying weather conditions.

- At least 1 year of experience working with horses.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on safety and care.

Compensation: $42,000 per annum
Schedule
All animals require care year-round, including weekends and evenings. Our team members work varied shifts from Monday-Sunday, including holidays.
Please note, this position is onsite. Additionally, reliable access to a car is necessary as there is no public transit near our facility.

Compensation
$42,000.00 per year
