Opportunity:
We are seeking a resourceful and organized Procurement Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for sourcing products, materials, and supplies for the store. The ideal candidate has strong vendor negotiation skills, is passionate about quality and sustainability, and enjoys attending trade shows and identifying new opportunities to elevate our brand and operations.
About Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary:
Dog Tales is a world-renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary set on an incredible 50 acres of green fields, rolling hills, and wooded areas in King City, Ontario. Our picturesque location - complete with walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa - is the perfect setting for abused and neglected animals to heal and be rehabilitated while they wait for forever homes. Along with medical care, our team provides all of the love, attention, and training that our rescue animals need to recover from their difficult pasts, so that they can move on to permanent, loving homes, which most do. For the rest, Dog Tales is home for as long as they need it to be.

The Role:
- Identify, source, and purchase products, supplies, and materials for various departments including animal care and merchandise
- Attend industry trade shows, supplier events, and markets to discover innovative and mission-aligned products
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and distributors
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely reordering of essential items
- Ensure all sourced products align with Dog Tales’ values, including sustainability and animal safety
- Maintain accurate procurement records, budgets, and supply chain documentation
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple sourcing projects, and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with procurement software or inventory systems
- A passion for animals and alignment with the mission of Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary
- Willingness to travel to trade shows, supplier sites, and events as needed
- Familiarity with vendor compliance, logistics, and contract review
- Ability to identify unique or custom-made items for both operational use and retail

Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a schedule of 8 AM – 5 PM, five days a week, with occasional weekend shifts as needed. Flexibility with working hours is essential.
